Area Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.
Police state they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered many other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials state initial examinations indicate the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; investigators are currently not informed of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they added.
City officials stated they were working "to unravel the case" and have asked to the public for information.
A high-ranking official commented the incident made him stunned and had to be addressed promptly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he posted on online, referring to the killing of nine people by a assailant aiming at individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
